Babies Toddler Lap Time, 8/23/13

Babies Toddler Lap Time, 8/23/13

This was the last toddler story time of the summer, and my last toddler story time ever, and I was glad to see it end. This story time has never gone well, or been well-attended, and this was no exception. We did a babies theme, but the kids only wanted to run laps around  the  room and their parents just wanted to take photos of them running. The kids did like the shaker eggs, but everything else, they pretty much ignored.

I use the same hello and goodbye songs at almost every session. Click here for the tunes and words. For descriptions of each of my story times, click here.

  1. Maybe you need to lower the age to more of an infant/baby group. I do baby story time too and cap it at 24 months. It seems to work well.

    1. We actually already offer a hugely popular baby story time, which is why we have a separate toddler group. We have also always had a morning version of this toddler story time that regularly attracts 40+ kids, many of whom we have to turn away. We used to have a lot of parents who didn't work on Friday afternoons, but we don't seem to have that population anymore, so I think it's really just an issue of the time of day.

It is SOOO refreshing to here an honest account of a story time, where things don't necessarily go to plan, I have this regularly and get fed up of seeing blogs which just wax lyrical about how well their session went!
